Physiology Department
Dr. Sallahudin
Head of the Department
About the Department
The Physiology Department focuses on understanding how the body functions. It covers both
general and systemic physiology, studying the mechanisms that allow the body to maintain
homeostasis and respond to internal and external stimuli.
Key Learning Areas
- General Physiology: Study of basic functions occurring at cellular and systemic levels, such as ion
transport and metabolism. - Systemic Physiology: Study of cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, renal, and endocrine systems.
- Neurophysiology: Study of the nervous system, including sensory and motor functions.
- Applied Physiology: Clinical applications such as ECG, spirometry, and blood pressure monitoring.
Laboratory Requirements:
- Human Physiology Lab: Equipped with ECG machines, spirometers, and ergographs.
- Mammalian Lab: Facilities for studying tissue responses using organ bath setups.
- Amphibian Lab: For studying physiological responses in amphibian models.
Learning Outcomes
- Knowledge of physiological processes and their application in medicine.
- Skills to conduct physiological diagnostic tests.
- Ability to diagnose and manage physiological disorders
