About the Department
The Anatomy Department at NIMSRC provides students with a solid foundation in human body
structure. The curriculum emphasizes both gross anatomy (the study of large structures) and
microscopic anatomy (the study of cells and tissues), integrating clinical and surgical correlations to
deepen students’ understanding. It also includes embryology to explain human development from
fertilization to birth.
Key Learning Areas
- Gross Anatomy: The study of human body structures regionally and systemically.
- Histology: Examination of tissues and cellular structures under the microscope
- Embryology: Focus on human development from fertilization to birth.
- Neuroanatomy: Detailed study of the nervous system structure and function.
- Applied Anatomy: Correlates anatomical knowledge with clinical and surgical practices.
Laboratory Requirements:
- Dissection Hall: Equipped with cadavers, dissection tables, anatomical models, and audiovisual
aids. - Histology Lab: Advanced microscopes, slide preparation tools, and a comprehensive collection of
histological slides. - Anatomy Museum: Anatomical specimens, models, and interactive displays.
- Digital Tools: Virtual dissection platforms, 3D anatomical models.
Learning Outcomes
- Thorough understanding of human anatomy.
- Proficiency in cadaveric dissections.
- Ability to correlate anatomical structures with clinical applications.
